As the title already suggests, I am not homeless any more. On Sunday evening, I moved into a little cosy room belonging to a 3 bedroom flat. My new flatmates are two Irish boys at the age of 22 or 23, respectively. I took some pictures of my room, which are already available at Flickr. And since yesterday, I ‘ve got WLAN.
My first lecture in “Origins and Evolution of Language” was great, although I already knew everything the lecturer was talking about (since I wrote an essay about the topic for my last philosophy course). Thus, I am still alive and everything is fine.
During my first week, I noticed some differences between Scotland and Germany. They’ve got no quark. Even at Lidl you’ll find none. Ok, they’ve got Fruchtquark and it is as you can imagine called that way. But with this kind of quark you probably shouldn’t make pizza dough. Their showers are electrical. When you wanna take a shower, go into the bathroom, search for some piece of rope that is hanging from the ceiling and pull it down. A red light at the shower control element begins to glow and you can enter the shower room. You can choose whether the water pressure is low, medium or high and what temperature the water should have. Then the button which says “Start/Stop” must be pressed in order to get water out of the shower head. They use mayonese somehow different, you can get it neither at Mc Donald’s nor at Ikea, but at Subways. You can’t get soft cheese at Subways. They have only very few zebra crossings and they look amazingly absurd. On each side of the street is one lantern whose stake is striped in black and white. The lamps are blinking orange all the time and the street at a zebra crossing is of course furnished with a zebra design. I took some photos:

Today I noticed that they don’t have quark here in Sweden either.
This surely compromised my lunch plans.
Well, I haven’t checked Lidl yet.
Greetings from Göteborg!
I actually found Quark in Tesco. That’s a big supermarket chain here in Britain. But only the Tesco Metro – the huge variant – has it, in Tesco Express you won’t find it either.
Greetings from Edinburgh to Göteborg and Good Luck with your search!
